Clangram ("we," "us," or "our") provides a web-based platform for creating and sharing interactive family trees. Our service allows you to add family members, upload photos, track birthdays, view family locations on a map, and share your tree with others. Some features are available on a free trial; continued use beyond the trial requires a paid subscription (see Section 6).
By accessing or using Clangram, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our service. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access.
You retain ownership of all content you upload to Clangram, including photos, names, and family information. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and process it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and the people you choose to share it with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to backup retention described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content, including photos and personal information about other people. Do not upload content that is illegal, harmful, infringes on the privacy or intellectual property rights of others, or violates these Terms.

Clangram offers a free 14-day trial that does not require a credit card. After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription. Current plans are Starter ($12 / year, up to 100 family members) and Growth ($24 / year, unlimited members). Plans and prices are listed at /pricing.
Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method you provided. By subscribing, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge that payment method on each renewal until you cancel.
Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account settings or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep paid access until then. After your paid period ends without renewal, your family tree becomes read-only and the admin loses editing access until the subscription is reactivated. Member accounts remain free.
Refunds. Subscriptions are billed annually and are non-refundable, except where required by law. If you believe you have been billed in error, contact us within 30 days and we will investigate.
Plan changes & price changes. If you upgrade mid-cycle (e.g., Starter → Growth after exceeding 100 members), we charge a prorated difference for the remaining period. We may change pricing for future renewals with at least 30 days' notice; existing subscribers are billed at their current rate until renewal.
Taxes. Listed prices do not include applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST. Where required, taxes will be added at checkout and shown on your receipt.
Payment processor. All payments are processed by Stripe. You are also bound by Stripe's terms when paying for a Clangram subscription. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Clangram relies on third-party services to operate, including Supabase (database and authentication), Railway (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Sentry (error tracking), and Google Analytics. Your use of Clangram is also subject to the terms and policies of these providers. Outages or changes to these providers may affect the availability of Clangram.
Clangram is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that data will never be lost, or that the service will meet your specific requirements. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with notice where reasonably practicable.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clangram and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold Clangram harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you upload, your use of the service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
You may stop using Clangram at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in conduct we reasonably believe is harmful to other users or the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases. You may export your data before termination using the built-in GEDCOM export. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, governing law) will continue to apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section limits your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
